5 players that Must be Released by Manchester United

Manchester United wants to clean up next summer. They plan to release a number of players in the transfer market.

The Red Devils are expected to spend heavily in the transfer market. They want to catch up with Manchester City.

MU plans to recruit new players to increase the strength of its squad. However, the Red Devils also need to release a number of their players to increase their spending funds.

Later, the money from their sales can be used to land a number of new players. So, who are the players that can be released by MU?

5 Players Who Should be Released by MU

1. Andreas Pereira

Andreas Pereira is a graduate of the Manchester United academy. However, the Brazilian midfielder was never the first choice at Old Trafford.

Pereira has not been included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans this season. As a result, the player decided to leave Lazio on loan.

Pereira is still under contract with MU until 2023. However, the player seems to have no future at Manchester United.

2. Juan Mata

Since being recruited in the 2013/2014 season, Juan Mata has contributed a lot to Manchester United. He managed to lead United to become champions in the Europa League.

However, the arrival of Bruno Fernandes made Mata often sit on the bench. The 33-year-old player finds it difficult to get a chance to play in the first team.

Mata contract only remains until the end of this season. To date, there are no signs the player will sign a contract extension.

3. Anthony Martial

Anthony Martial has been sluggish this season. Plotted as Manchester United's center-forward, the Frenchman failed to score many goals.

Martial has appeared in 36 matches in all competitions this season. However, the French striker was only able to score seven goals from his performances.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly not satisfied with Martial's performance. MU must find a striker who is better than the player if they want to be champions next season.

4. Phil Jones

Phil Jones has been defending Manchester United for a long time. However, much of his career at Old Trafford was marred by injuries.

Jones has not played for Manchester United since the end of January 2020. He has not yet worn the Red Devils jersey due to an injury.

The British center-back has two years remaining on his contract. However, the former Blackburn Rovers player seems to have no place under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

5. Jesse Lingard

Jesse Lingard is no longer included in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans at Manchester United. The British player finally decided to leave West Ham on loan.
